Creating Your Podcast

Concept Development

Choose overall theme, a name, and what types of content you’d like to feature.

  • How often will new episodes be uploaded?

  • Approximately how long will each episode run?

  • Will you have guests or co-hosts contributing?

Design a compelling cover image for the podcast and develop a consistent branding strategy including logo, colors, and fonts.

Set up a “show page” containing information about the hosts and upcoming episodes.

(Show pages come standard with purchase of a hosting plan and with purchase of the start-up package, you get free consultation meetings to help you with concept development)

Scripting, Planting, and Recording

Create a detailed outline or script for each episode.

Conduct research to ensure content accuracy and relevance.

If the podcast includes guests, schedule interviews and prepare questions.

Use a microphone, headphones, and recording software and use a quiet recording environment to minimize background noise.

(Sound overwhelming?  Talk to us about hourly production assistance!)

Editing

Use audio editing software to cut out mistakes, add intros/outros, background music, and sound effects.

(We can edit for you for an hourly rate, and hosting plans come with free production assistance each month for those small issues that might pop up.)

Hosting

Upload the finished audio file to a hosting service. These platforms store your audio files and generate an RSS feed, a web feed that allows users to receive updates to online content. The creator or hosting service can submit the RSS feed to different music directories, such as Spotify, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, or Apple Podcasts to reach a broader audience.

Being part of a network can help expose your podcast to a larger and more diverse audience.  Networks promote podcasts within their roster, helping attract listeners from other shows on the network. They can help with branding, social media promotion and promotion strategies.

We can work directly with advertisers, making it easier to secure sponsorship and ads than on your own. Networks handle the logistics of ad sales and placement, allowing creators to focus on content.

Networks often provide access to better production resources like editing software, webspace for show pages, and technical expertise. You can also purchase editing and post-production services at a discounted rate. Joining a network places you in a community of podcasters, can lead to collaborative opportunities and shared knowledge and can provide detailed analytics and insights, helping you understand your audience better and make data-driven decisions to improve your podcast.
